Georgia Lampkins

Georgia Lampkins, 85, of Cove, died May 6 at Grande Ronde Hospital with her daughters, grandchildren and family by her side. A service began at 10 this morning at Loveland Funeral Chapel.

Burial will be at Island City Cemetery. A potluck will follow at Cove Sportsmen's Club.

Georgia was born March 25, 1925, to George and Ina Tucker. She grew up in Flora and graduated from Flora High School with three other students in 1941. She met Darrel Lampkins, and they married March 21, 1946.

They lived in Joseph and ran the laundromat for years.

The couple had two girls, Irene June and Judy Ellen. The couple later moved to the Grande Ronde Valley where they farmed for more than 50 years. Georgia loved being outdoors and driving truck at harvest time.

She loved staying busy in the later years after her husband died.

She enjoyed traveling with her sister. She went to Hells Canyon, Alaska, Texas and also made trips throughout Oregon. She enjoyed watching her great-grandchildren play sports or participate in dance.

She is survived by daughters, Irene of Cove and Judy and her husband, John Steele of Athena; several grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
