Tibute to "Mom" by Mari Ann Cook
Georgene Gietlhuber Critchlow, age 89, of Pneldton and formerly of La Grande, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Pendleton after suffering complications from an earlier heart attack. "The world lost an anazingly kind and generous woman, and heaven gained the most sweetest angel it's ever known."
Georgene was born in Portland, Oregon in 1922 and was raised in La Grande, Oregon. She was the youngest of five girls of John and Lina Gietlhuber of La Grande. Georgene lived in Pendleton for most of her life. She taught Third Grade at Lincoln School in Pendleton for 45 years and loved every minute of it. "I often run into people that Mom had taught and always getting the same "I loved Mrs. Critchlow. She was my favorite teacher. She was so nice."
Georgene was married to Glenn Critchlow for over 50 years. Glenn was a former retiree of the Pendleton Postal Service and served in the military in World War II, where they met soon after. Georgene also loved her four grandchildren, Jeremy Benningfield of Stanfield, Casey Benningfield of Madras, Brianna Cook of Baker City and Kayley Cook of Pendleton. She also had three great grandchildren, Kayden and Kendall Benningfield and Brooklyn McClure. And of course her biggest fan, her one and only daughter, Mari Ann Critchlow Cook.
All who have met Georgene Critchlow I'm sure will agree, "She's been the best blessing I've had in my life!" We'll miss you Mrs. Critchlow "Mom"
