George William Duncan

George William Duncan, 78, of La Grande, died Jan. 19 at Grande Ronde Hospital. At the family's request, there will be no services at this time.

George was born Nov. 11, 1931, to William Ernest Duncan and Myrtle (Martin) Duncanin Sioux City, Iowa. He attended school in Sioux City, and married Loraine Erlene Tronnes in Dakota City, Neb., Feb. 25, 1950.

He moved to Westport in 1970, where he worked for James River Paper Co., retiring in 1995. He has lived in the La Grande area for the last 10 years.

He is survived by his daughter, Carla (Chris) Greenough of La Grande; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Loraine; and a daughter, Diana Gayle Westfall.
