Gene Allen Springman, age 75, of Imbler and formerly of Junction City/Eugene area, died January 20, 2019 at the Grande Ronde Hospital.
A memorial service will be held later in Eugene. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels~Knopp Funeral & Cremation Center in La Grande.
Gene was born on January 27, 1943, the son of John Adam and Gladys Irene (Eoff) Springman in Redding, California. The family lived back and
forth between California and Junction City for many years. He graduated from high school in Eugene in 1960. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, from which he was honorably discharged. After his discharge he returned to Eugene where he worked as a machinist making military parts. His wife Carol preceded him in death in 2006.
In 2010 he met Annette Harvey Roberts from Imbler. They spent the summer months at Winchester Bay, where they enjoyed deep sea fishing and crabbing.
They were married on Aug 11, 2016 in Island City. He also enjoyed
bird hunting, watching and feeding the quail and just enjoying sitting
in the sunshine.
Survivors include his wife, Annette Springman of Imbler; children, Mark
Springman of Portland, Greg and Stella Springman of Albany, Guy
Springman of Eugene and Debbie and Daryl Kemmerle of North Bend; step-children, Yolanda and Russ Conrad of Island City, Larry and Tanya Roberts of Elgin
and John and Susie Conerd of Maui, Hawaii; sister Marie Kiemlen of Cheshire, Oregon; numerous grandchildren; a number of great
grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
He was proceeded in death by mother, father, two sisters and wife Carol.
