Gene "Bud" A. Moffit

October 20, 1926 — February 15, 2005

Gene A. "Bud" Moffit, age 78, of La Grande, died Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at the Grande Ronde Hospital. At his request there will be no public services. Those who wish may make contributions in his name to the charity of one's choice in care of Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 7th Street, La Grande, Oregon 97850.



Mr. Moffit was born on October 20, 1926, the son of George and Margaret (McDonald) Moffitt in Enterprise, Oregon. He attended schools in Enterprise and served during the Korean War in the United States Army and the United States Air force. In 1946 he married Lois E. Quinn. The marriage later ended in divorce. He raised race horses for many years and he moved to La Grande in 1973. In 1976 he purchased the Long Branch and owned and operated it until 1991. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.



Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Dan & Kathy Moffit of Union; sister, Shirley Palmer of Enterprise; two grandsons; two great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Francis Reed Moffit and seven brothers and sisters.
