Frank Kenton Sanders

July 23, 1933 — September 14, 2005

Frank Kenton Sanders, age 72 of Elgin and formerly of Tri-Cities, Washington, died Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at his home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Elgin, Oregon with Bishop Richard Rasmussen conducting. Viewing will from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Saturday at Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 7th Street, La Grande, Oregon. Interment will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Desert Lawn Cemetery in Kennewick, Washington.



Frank Kenton Sanders was born on July 23, 1933, the son of Francis and Mabel May (Smith) Sanders in Pasco, Washington. As a child Frank was raised and educated in the Tri-Cities area. After graduating high school, Frank met and married Lillian Bateman and together the couple raised four children. Lillian later preceded him in death. Frank worked on the Patterson Ferry before going to work for the Chevron Chemical Company where we worked his way up to plant manager. On July 9, 1985, Frank married Vivian Mays in Seattle, Washington and after twenty five years of service to Chevron Chemical, Frank retired in 1986. Together the couple moved to the Grande Ronde Valley in 1987, and built their home in Elgin. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Frank enjoyed playing baseball and belonged to numerous leagues in the Tri-Cities including a city league and church league. He loved hunting, watching war movies of John Wayne, riding horses, building homes and most of all spending time with his family. Frank will be remembered as a true family man.



Survivors include his wife Vivian of Elgin, Oregon; children and their spouses, Frank and Billie Sanders of Texas, Kenton and Loretta Sanders of Kennewick, Washington, Cathy and Reed Craigo of Kennewick, Washington and Cindy and Carl Medlock of Seattle, Washington; step-children and their spouses, I. Scott and Darci Neuhart of Arizona, Mine't Neuhart of Boise, Idaho and Nick and Elizabeth Neuhart of Twin Falls, Idaho; twelve grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. His parents and wife Lillian Sanders all preceded him in death.
