Frank "F.A." Andrews Johnson

Frank "F.A." Andrews Johnson, 82, of Cove, died April 25 at Grande Ronde Hospital in La Grande. His funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church in Cove. Burial will be at Cove Cemetery. A reception follows the graveside service back at Calvary Baptist Church.

He was born Jan. 11, 1929, to Riley and Lola (Hatfield) Johnson in Dunlap, Tenn. He moved to Oregon in 1952, and on July 12, 1954, he married Donna Marie McKinney in Weiser, Idaho. They moved to Southern Oregon where he worked in the logging industry.

He later moved his family to Union County, and worked for various farmers over several years. In 1964, he became employed by Boise Cascade, retiring in 1992. After retirement, he worked for the farmers during the harvest seasons.

F.A. was an avid hunter and those who knew him say he grew many wonderful gardens. When his children were in school sports, he enjoyed driving the bus to games and watching them play.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Donna; children and their spouses, Linda and Fred Peterson of Athol, Idaho, Wade and Cindy Johnson of Cove, Annette and Jeff Brence of La Grande, Wayne and Sandi Johnson of Cove and Jill and Gordon Alvey of Soldotna, Alaska; brothers, Jack Johnson, Quay Johnson and Clayton Johnson; sister, Rieta Bess; half-siblings, Will, Lena, Sally, Ernie, Richard and Raymond; four granddaughters; seven grandsons; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Riley and Lola; sister, Viola; brothers, Jimmy Lloyd and Ray; son-in-law, Dan Henderson; and grandson, Daniel Henderson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church in Cove.
