Frank David Guthrie

December 21, 1924 — August 24, 2006

Frank David Guthrie, age 81 of Wallowa County, died Thursday, August 24, 2006 at a local care facility. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Enterprise Cemetery. A dinner will follow at the Enterprise VFW.

Mr. Guthrie was born on December 21, 1924 in Quincy, Massachusetts to Franklin Peter and Anna Theresa (Nichols) Guthrie. He was raised in Wallowa County and after graduating from high school he joined the United States Marine Corp where he served for 26 years before retiring. He then farmed in Wallowa County.

Mr. Guthrie married Helen Marie Burdett on September 9, 1946 and she preceded him in death on September 25, 1996. He was a member of the Alpine Meadows Golf Course, the Enterprise Elks Lodge and Eagle Cap V.F.W. Post 4307. He enjoyed golf, fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Richard Halverson of Kahlotus, Washington; granddaughters and their spouses, Cindy and Dan Pryor of Turner, Oregon and Tina and Hans Schroeder of Athena, Oregon; sisters, Anna Marie Meyer of Santa Barbara, California, Delores Riddle of Honolulu, Hawaii and Patricia Lunday of Castle Rock, Washington; five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
