Frances Anna Case

January 3, 1918 — March 19, 2010

Frances Anna Evans Case, age 92, of Aloha and formerly of La Grande passed away March 19, 2010 from a failing heart condition. She died in her beloved Aloha home of 37 years, surrounded by the love and care of her friends and family.

Frances was born in Wheeler County, Nebraska on January 3, 1918 to Charles and Grace Evans. She came to La Grande with her family of two brothers, George and Earl Evans and a sister, Ethel Evans Cooper Twidwell Wilson in 1928, where she completed the rest of her school years. She married classmate Leonard L. Case in 1936 and moved to Portland where they began a family with the birth of their first son, Charles R. Case in 1938 and their second son, Larry L. Case in 1940. After World War II, Leonard began a 32 year career with a major oil company, with assignments in Portland, Eugene, Medford, Bend, Boise, Wenatchee and Seattle, returning to Portland and retirement. During this time Frances was an avid homemaker, taking each household relocation in stride. Since Leonard's passing in 2002 she has maintained her beloved home with energy and vigor. Her immaculate yard, beautiful flowers and garden were neighborhood treasures and a testimonial to her pride and passion.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, her parents, sister, brothers, youngest son, Larry L. Case and a grandson, Scott C. Case. Survivors include her eldest son, Charles R. Case of Surprise, Arizona and Culver, Oregon; granddaughters, Holly Caporale of Escondido, California, Cindy Murray of Poway, California and Shelley O'Dell of Walnut Creek, California. She was also blessed with four great granddaughters and two great grandsons.

Those who wish may send memorials in France's name to their favorite charity. A future neighborhood remembrance is planned in Aloha, Oregon. Services will be held in La Grande at Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 7th Street, on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Private entombment will be held at the Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum.
