Lamar Lazenby, age 90, died Thursday April 11th at his home in La Grande.
A service will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 20th at Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 7th Street, La Grande. A committal service will follow at the Island City Cemetery.
Born as Foster Lamar Lazenby on October 12 1928 in East Los Angeles , California. He completed high school and began working in the grocery business. He worked his way up to become manager of a Safeway Store before becoming a regional meat department manager for 13 Raley’s Grocery Stores in California and Nevada.
On April 11, 1953 Lamar married Louise Fisher in Las Vegas. They lived in California and then Reno before moving to Island City in 1993.
Lamar was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriners and enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing and woodworking. Mostly he enjoyed spending time with family.
Survivors include his son, Michael & Debby Calvin of Cape Town, South Africa, daughter, Valarie & Dave Whelan of Summerville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise and a grandson, John Eric Whelan.
