Evert W. Mckenzie

Evert W. McKenzie, 52, of Umatilla and formerly of La Grande died May 9, 2006 at his home. The funeral will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Burns Mortuary of Hermiston. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. in the Summerville Cemetery.

Mr. McKenzie was born September 3, 1953 to Max Davy and Mary Elizabeth Plaster McKenzie in La Grande. He served in the Army from 1973 to 1976 and worked as a salesman and mechanic for automotive parts stores. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, taking part in walleye tournaments and being with his family. He was a backyard mechanic and loved life to the fullest.

Survivors include his companion, Shanon McBride of Umatilla; children and their spouses, Christine Wizner of Heppner and Jennifer and Chris Iverson of Cathay, N.D.; step-children, Forrest and Courtney McBride; and six grandchildren. Two brothers, Bob and Max McKenzie, both died earlier.
