Everett August Koller, age 78 of La Grande and formerly of Elgin died Sunday, December 4, 2005 at a local care center. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Elgin Cemetery in Elgin. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.
Everett Koller was born on April 6, 1927, the son of Frank and Rachel (Morton) Koller in Summersville, Missouri. He worked for most of his life in the logging industry. Everett served his country during World War II in U.S. Navy and in Korea with the U.S. Army. On June 27, 1952, he married Dorla Richardson in Hardy, Arkansas and together the couple moved to Pomeroy, Washington and then to Elgin, Oregon in 1955 before finally settling in La Grande in 2002. He was a member of the American Legion and a life time member of the VFW. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and also loved to travel while his health permitted.
Survivors include his wife Dorla Koller of La Grande; children and their spouses, Michael and Valerie Koller of Elgin and Elton and Debra Koller of La Grande; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother Vernon Koller of St. Louis, Missouri and other relatives and friends. His parents, brothers, Lawrence, Howard and Emmett Koller: sisters, Inez Haeffner, Alta Oldenburg, Delsie Randolph, Velma Carpenter and Hazel Koller all preceded him in death.
