Everett Allen was born on August 5, 1943, in Red Bluff, California, the son of Arthur “Art” and Katherine (Zelner) Grandeen. After graduating from Corning High School with the class of 1961, he worked in the logging industry in California, continuing after moving to Elgin in 1966. On June 23, 1973, he married Diana Johnson in Baker City. In the 1970’s, Everett took a job working in sales and delivery for Eddy’s Bread company, which later became Franz, before he retired in 2009.
Everett and Diana were charter members of the Union County Little League and for many years Everett served as an Assistant Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America. He was an active member of the Elgin Lions Club and served on the GRH Elgin Clinic Board of Directors and was instrumental in organizing and developing the Elgin Museum and Historical Society. For all his efforts, he was named Junior Man of the Year and later Man of the Year.
Everett loved his family dearly and was proud of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his wife Diana gardening, hiking, kayaking; hunting with his son and grandson, and participating in running/walking events with his daughter. He loved history, spending time with his family playing games, puzzles, cheering on the Seattle Mariners and was the biggest fan of his grandkids at their sporting events. Whenever Everett was working around the house, you could always find his dog, Bailey, by his side. Everett loved all and was loved by all.
