Evelyn Mary Rice

Evelyn Mary Rice, age 78, of Union, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003 at the Grande Ronde Hospital.


Mrs. Rice was born on April 15, 1925, the daughter of Wayne and Erma (Rhudger) Eckley in Enterprise, Oregon. She graduated from Enterprise High School and in 1968 she married William "Bill" Rice. She enjoyed crocheting, plastic canvas work and traveling. She loved working in the woods with her husband.


Survivors include her husband, Bill of Union; children, Carolyn Roberts of Salt Lake City, Utah, Ervina Hoffman of Baker City, LaNette Theroux of Los Cruces, New Mexico, Shirley Taylor of Baker City, Dallas Wilson of Baker City, Sharon Abels of Alaska and Cathy Kelly of New York; step-son, Tim Rice of Arkansas; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-five great grandchildren; sisters, Ann Fritz of Buell, Idaho and Nancy Shoppman of Wallowa; and other relatives and friends. A brother, Wayne Eckley, preceded her in death.
