Eva Mae Stewart Baum

July 29, 1909 — March 21, 2006

Eva Mae Stewart Baum, 96, of Tacoma, Washington and formerly of Baker City died March 21, 2006 at her home. The funeral will begin at 1:00 p.m. Friday at the LDS Church on Hughes Lane in Baker City. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.

Mrs. Baum was born July 29, 1909, to Charles and Edna Scott near Pullman, Washington. She lived in Spokane and in 1926 moved with her mother to La Grande. In 1930 she married Jack Stewart in La Grande. They lived in Pondosa until 1943 when her husband died and she moved to Baker City. She lived there for the next 52 years. In 1946 she married Orville N. Baum in Baker City. He died in 1995, and she moved to Tacoma to live with one of her daughters. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed reading, needlework and traveling.

Survivors include children, Esther Stewart of Tacoma, Diona Fortner and Marla Fox, both of Kennewick, LaMar Baum, Nancy Denton and Mary Green, all of Spokane, Joyce LaRose of Salt Lake City and Dennis Baum of Hillsboro; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Three children, "Bud" Stewart, Loren Baum and Phillip Baum, all died earlier.

Memorials may be made to the LDS Education Fund in care of Coles Funeral Home, 1950 Place Street, Baker City, 97814.
