Eunice Shurtliff, age 92, of La Grande died Saturday, August 30, 2003 at the Grande Ronde Hospital.

Viewing will take place at Loveland Funeral Chapel from 5 to 7 pm on Wednesday. A service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 4, 2003 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on the corner of 12th Street and Gekeler Lane. Dedication of the grave will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in La Grande.

Mrs. Shurtliff was born May 8, 1911 to William A. and Olive C. Wale Roundy in Baker City. She attended schools in Wallowa and Enterprise before graduating from La Grande High School in 1931. She married Ivan Shurtliff on September 5, 1937 in Enterprise and the marriage was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on August 9, 1938. She was a homemaker and enjoyed embroidery, reading, history and social studies. She will be remembered as a wonderful cook and candy-maker.

She was a member of the First Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she participated in the relief society and as a primary teacher. She also held many executive positions within the church.

Survivors include three children and their spouses, Diane Shurtliff of Portland, Dan and Christine Shurtliff of Vancouver, Washington and Kevan and Nina Shurtliff of El Segundo, California; six grandchildren; a brother, Dean Roundy of Portland and two sisters, Enid McArthur of Portland and Afton Hendrickson of La Grande. Her husband, three brothers and two sisters all died earlier.

Memorials may be made to the LDS Perpetual Education Fund or the LDS family history center.
