Former Milton-Freewater resident Eunice Poteete Bright, age 90, died April 1, 2003 at a local care facility.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 11, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Elgin Cemetery.
A twin and the fourth of 14 children, Mrs. Bright was born on October 11, 1912, in Rowe, Oklahoma to William Robert and Eva Del Hendron. She grew up in Oklahoma and on November 17, 1928 she married Kenneth Poteete in Kansas, Oklahoma and they had two children. In 1933 the family moved to Yakima and in 1936 Mr.Poteete died.
In 1938 she married Charles Bright and they had two daughters. The family moved to Milton-Freewater in 1946. Primarily a homemaker, she also worked in area canneries. Mr. Bright preceded her in death in 1993. She later moved to Elgin to be with her daughter.
Survivors include her daughters, Laverne Poteete Horrell of Elgin, Joanne Bright Harris of Pendleton and Phyllis Bright Thom of Kennewick; son, Emmett Poteete of Milton-Freewater; sisters, Alta Walters of Oregon City, Jewell Earl of Olympia, Bethel Shinaberger of Seattle, Louise Revelle of Fresno, California and Cecil Kehl of Yakima; 10 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; and other relatives and friends. Three brothers and five sisters preceded her in death, including her twin, Inice.
