Etta Olena Richardson

April 19, 1918 — March 17, 2005

Etta Olena Richardson, age 86 of La Grande and formerly of Cove, died Thursday, March 17 at a local care center. A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 21, 2005 at 2: 00 p.m. at the Cove Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.

Etta Olena Richardson was born on April 19, 1918, the daughter of Fred and Bessie (Horton) Bristow in Cove, Oregon. Etta attended school in Cove and remained in Cove for most of her life. In May of 1934 she married Arlie (Shorty) Richardson. Arlie preceded her in death in September of 1993. Etta was a member of the Cove Baptist Church and the Cove Tops Club. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing and most of all spending time with her family.

Survivors include her son, Raymond Richardson of Island City; daughters and son-in-laws, Gay and Joe Scott of Island City; Dottie and Bob Reed of Bonneyville, Alberta, Canada; Doreen and Melvin Depuy of Trails, Oregon; ten grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister Welmerth Bates of Cove, Oregon; brother, Dean Bristow of Sacramento, California many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Her husband, brothers and a sister, Elbert Bristow, Edward Bristow, Wayne Bristow, Oral Bristow and Zina Waite all preceded her in death.
