Ethel Patterson

Ethel Kathleen Patterson, 87, of Hermiston and formerly of Union died March 26 at her home. Burial will be in Salmon, Idaho.

Mrs. Patterson was born April 28, 1917, in Union. She graduated from Union High School in 1934, and married Harry C. "Pat" Patterson in 1951 in Walla Walla. The couple lived in Baker City and the Sumpter Valley before moving to Hermiston in 1966. They were licensed horse-trainers who raced horses from 1955 to 1960, and ran K-Pat Saddle Shop in Hermiston from 1970 to 2002. She made western shirts, saddles and other leather work.

Survivors include a daugher, Donna Broyles of Fairplay, Mo., and other relatives. Her husband, a son, Don,a daughter, Leona, and two sisters all died earlier.
