Erin "Pat" Patricia Newcomb

January 16, 1927 — July 18, 2005

Erin Patricia "Mrs. Pat" Newcomb, 78,of Boise and formerly of La Grande and Union died July 18. A memorial service will begin a 1 p.m. Friday at the Nazarene Church, 109 18th St., with private burial at Grandview Cemetery.

Mrs. Newcomb was born Jan. 16, 1927, to John Timothy and Pearl Nevada Duncan Kenney in East St. Louis, Ill. In 1945 she married Charles F. Feathergill. The family lived Riverside, Calif., and in 1973 she moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where she taught pre-school.

In 1979, she moved to La Grande, where at age of 54 she earned a degree in early childhood education at Eastern Oregon State College. On March 19, 1982, she married Merle "Bud" Newcomb in Pendleton. The couple lived in Union where she ran Country Garden Pre-school until 1989. Her students called her Mrs. Pat. In 1993 they retired to Apache Junction, Ariz., and in 2004 moved to Boise.

She enjoyed music, singing, whistling, dancing, tolle painting, Pincohle, camping, traveling and being with her family. She will be remembered as a loving Christian woman with a strong Irish wit.

Survivors include her husband of Boise; children, Steve Feathergill of Girdwood, Alaska, Dan Feathergill of Elgin,Gary Feathergill of Corpus Christi, Texas, Tim Feathergill of Champaign, Ill., Jeannie Prowse of Pendleton, Kathy Calvin of Indian, Alaska, Suzy Mayes of La Grande, Annette Chylewski of Boise, and Christine Blinkinsop of Temecula, Calif,; three step-children, Donna DeRousie of Portland, Janet Porter of Vancouver, Wash., and Lois Newcomb of Pendleton; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lucille Broussard of Colton, Calif., and Hazel Bartel of Newport News, Va.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
