Enid Irene Davis

October 30, 1920 — July 1, 2008

Our mother passed away on July 1, 2008 on a perfect summer day. Enid Irene Linn was born on October 30, 1920 in Portland, Oregon to Glen Richard Linn and Dora Hartley Linn. She was raised in Portland and Eugene, Oregon until her mother passed away in 1926. At that time, Mom and her siblings were sent to Enid, Oklahoma to live with relatives and returned to Eugene in 1929 when their father remarried. She spent the rest of her school years in Eugene with her father and step-mother, Dorothy Waters Linn.

Mom was to marry our father, Gene Robinson, on December 7, 1941. Because of the attack on Pearl Harbor the wedding was postponed one week. They were married in a simple ceremony on Sunday, December 14, 1941 after our father preached the evening service at the First Christian Church in Turner, Oregon.

Mom and Dad began their married life in Turner and then in 1947 moved to La Grande, OR where Dad accepted the position as minister of the First Christian Church. They served together there until 1959 when Dad became the minister of the First Christian Church in Billings, Montana. These were some of the happiest years of Mom's life as she raised her four children, supported Dad in his ministry, sang in the church choir, and lovingly ironed countless white shirts. In 1969 Mom began working with special needs children in Billings, a career that she loved.

In December 1973 Mom married Charles Davis of Olympia, Washington. Chuck passed away in 1978 and mom remained in Olympia where she continued her work with special needs children until she retired in 1985.

In 1993, Mom moved to Salem, Oregon, back to the Willamette Valley she loved so much. During her years in Salem she was active in the Salemtowne Chorus, played a lively game of pinochle, and was always running about town in her Honda Accord. She remained active in the Keizer Christian church and the Salemtowne community until April of this year when she became ill. Even after being diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor, Mom demonstrated a wonderful sense of humor, love of life and appreciation of food (especially milkshakes) until the final days of her life.

Mom was preceded in death by her son, Stephen Robinson, who passed away in July 2005. Surviving are her children - Timothy Robinson (Mary) of El Dorado Hills, California, Mark Robinson (Linda) of Salem, Oregon, and Ann Hooper (Jon) of Seattle, Washington. Also surviving are her sister, Elizabeth Myers of Rochester, NY; 9 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

We will always remember Mom for her buttermilk pancakes, homemade strawberry jam, and unconditional love of her family. Mom, you were the ultimate mother, wife, homemaker, and friend…thank you for all you have done for us. We love you and know that you are at peace.

Special thanks and love to Mark and Linda Robinson and their daughter, Bethany Cozort, who made it possible for Mom to pass from this earth in the comfort of her home and with her loved ones next to her.

A celebration of Mom's life will be held on Saturday, July 19th at 10:00 a.m. at the Keizer Christian church, 6945 Wheatland Rd NE, Keizer, Oregon 97303. Memorials may be made to the Keizer Christian Church.
