Emogene M. Henry

January 9, 1922 — October 16, 2004

Emogene M. Henry, age 82, formerly of Elgin, died Saturday, October 16, 2004 at the home of her daughter in Lafayette, Oregon. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 22, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Elgin with Bishop Richard Rasmussen conducting. Interment will follow at the Elgin Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 21, 2004 at Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 7th Street, La Grande, Oregon.

Mrs. Henry was born on January 9, 1922 the daughter of Roy and Opal (Follett) Meade in Elgin. Her first school years were at the Pine Grove School out of Elgin, Emogene later graduated from Arlington High School. On June 1, 1940 she married Kenneth K. Henry of Elgin. Together the couple lived in Sherwood, Oregon for several years, and then moved back to Elgin to take over of the family business and to raise a family. Mrs. Henry was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a skilled homemaker and helped out at their store whenever needed. She loved her home and family and enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and found great enjoyment in the outdoors where she spent time camping and fishing with her family. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Kenneth D. and Patricia Henry of John Day, Oregon; Dana L. and Michael Brinton of Modesto, California and Michele A. and Jack Huff of Lafayette, Oregon; one nephew, Gary E. Henry of Tacoma, Washington; fourteen grandchildren and twenty seven great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. She was preceded by her husband Kenneth K. Henry.
