Emma Louisa Berry

Emma Louisa (Chandler) Berry, age 97, passed away Thursday morning, September 11, 2008 at her home in the Fruitdale area. A graveside service will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 15, 2008 at the Island City Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center.

Emma was born on February 20, 1911 in La Grande to Zach and Margaret (Shafer) Chandler. She graduated from La Grande High School and on October 26, 1929 she married Floyd Berry in La Grande. They lived primarily in La Grande but spent five years living in Elgin before returning to La Grande. She enjoyed her flower garden, tatting and crocheting and especially baking and cooking for her family.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband of 70 years and three brothers, Atlee, Russell and Warren.

She is survived by her children, Kenneth Berry of La Grande, Wayne and Billie Berry of Eagle, Idaho and Patricia Shields of Livermore, California; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; brother, John Chandler of La Grande and other relatives and friends.
