Emily Marian Boucher

Emily Marian Boucher, age 87, of La Grande, died November 29, 2015 at the Grande Ronde Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 4, 2015 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church at 11:00 a,m. Committal and interment will follow at the Hillcrest East Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center.

Emily was born on December 24, 1927, the daughter of Henry and Josephine Birkland in Rolette County, North Dakota. After her schooling in North Dakota she worked with families helping take care of their young children. On October 13, 1947, she married Herman Boucher in Dunseith, North Dakota. In 1967 they moved to Pilot Rock, Oregon and in 1968 they moved to La Grande.. She was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church and participated for many years in the Circles. She enjoyed her home, yard and traveling, especially to the coast and North Dakota to visit relatives. She was a talented artist and seamstress and an avid bird watcher. Most of her evenings were spent reading, doing embroidery and putting puzzles together.

Survivors include her children, Barb and Robert Rivard of Dunseith, North Dakota, Garry and Becky Boucher of Sutherlin, Oregon and Marvin and Shelley Boucher of La Grande; daughter-in-law, Joyleen Boucher of Elgin; brother, James Birkland of Dunseith, North Dakota; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by son, Martin Boucher and husband Herman Boucher.
