Elwin Curtis Houle

April 30, 1924 — September 16, 2005

Elwin Curtis Houle, 81, of Pendleton died September 16, 2005. The funeral was held on Thursday, September 22 at Burns Mortuary in Pendleton. Burial will be at the Olney Cemetery.

Mr. Houle was born April 20, 1924 to Amos and Beatrice Houle in Bottineau, N.D. He graduated from La Grande High School in 1942 and served in the Army Air Forces as a pilot during World War II. On October 16, 1949 he married Donna Lee Carver in La Grande. He worked as an accountant and became a CPA while working for Yergen and Meyer in Portland. In 1958 he became branch manager in Pendleton and in 1965 he opened his own office. He retired in 1989.

He was involved in civic projects and community organizations. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and being with his family.

Survivors include his wife of Pendleton; sons, Danny Houle of Longview, Washington, Jim Houle of Pendleton, Wes Houle and Jeff Houle, both of Portland and Ken Houle of Hillsboro; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; a brother, Glenn Houle of Los Angeles, California and three sisters, Muriel Ward of La Grande, Elaine Sherwood of McMinnville and Cathleen Gardner of Lansing, Michigan. A brother, James Donald, died earlier.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Anthony Hospital Hospice and oncology programs or the Pendleton Foundation Trust in care of PO Box 489, Pendleton, Oregon 97801.
