Elsie Mae Bauer

June 23, 1913 — June 25, 2005

Elsie Mae Bauer, 92, of La Grande died Saturday at a local care center. Viewing will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Loveland Funeral Chapel, 1508 Fourth St. A graveside service will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Grandview Cemetery.

Mrs. Bauer was born June 23, 1913, to William and Luda Jane Holland Taylor in Fairbury, Nebraska. The family settled in North Powder and on January 20, 1930 she married Milton Bauer at the Union County Courthouse. The couple lived in many towns and places while her husband was a section foreman for Union Pacific. She enjoyed sewing, crochet, playing bingo and being with family.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Leavitt of La Grande; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren and other relatives. Her husband, a sister, Marie Roulsten and four brothers, Alva, Isham, Cecil and Neal Taylor all died earlier.
