Ellen Yvonne "Von" Stubblefield of La Grande died Tuesday, September 26, 2023 in La Grande at the age of 88.
A service will be held Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. at The First Presbyterian Church in La Grande. Committal and interment will be at the Monument Cemetery in Monument. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center of La Grande.
Ellen Yvonne was born on May 8, 1935 in Lonerock, Oregon, the daughter of Mahlon H. and Audra Lavilla (Leathers) Stoneman. She was raised and educated in Monument where she graduated high school. On June 29, 1952 she was married to Norris Clair Stubblefield in Monument. Together they owned and operated the Moon Motel in La Grande for 18 years before retiring in 1995.
Von, as she was called by her friends, enjoyed bowling, gardening, knitting and crocheting. She also enjoyed playing pinochle and bingo with her friends at La Grande Retirement Apartments where she lived for several years. She was a devoted wife and mother and cherished any time spent with her family more than anything. She was also faithful to the The First Presbyterian Church which she attended most of her adult life.
Survivors include her daughters, Dayneen Koopman, Linda Lyman, and her husband Pat, and Susan Cederholm all of La Grande, grandchildren, Mahlon Koopman of La Grande, Kelly and Michael Koopman, both of Portland, Kaci and Kevin Boylan and Josi Lyman, Shaun Cederholm, all of La Grande and Brandon Cederholm of Boise.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2010 and her son-in-law, John Cederholm in 2022.
