Ella "Berry" Orton Stenke

Ella "Berry" Orton Stenke, 90, formerly of Enterprise and La Grande, died March 10 in Portland. Burial was held at Olney Cemetery in Pendleton.

Ella was born Sept. 7, 1919, in Enterprise. She was one of 12 children born to Arthur and Della Wall Berry.

She graduated from

La Grande High School in 1938 and married Merrill Orton in 1941. She lived in the Portland area most of her married life.

She worked as a medical assistant for an ophthalmologist for many years.

She was widowed in August 1985 and later married Melvin Stenke.

She is survived by her husband, Melvin; daughter, Linda; three grandchildren; two sisters, Noreen Sana and Orpha Pieper. She was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.
