Ella Emma Adaila (Berner) Lauman

Ella Emma Adaila (Berner) Lauman, 92, of Marion died July 2 in La Grande of natural causes.

Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Marion Friends Church.

She was born in Cummings County, Neb., on Sept. 7, 1914. She met and married her husband, Clifford W. Lauman, in Nebraska. They married on Feb. 12, 1929, and were married for 70 years. The couple's first child, Jeanne Ellen, was born in 1933. In 1940, they moved to California, where Ella had Jimmie Eugene. In 1950 the family moved to Marion where Anita Louise was born in 1951.

Ella enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, flowers, birds and crocheting. She always had a pet dog or cat. She worked for 10 years as the school cook at Marion Elementary School.

Ella made Marion her home for 56 years. She had many friendships in that small community, where she attended the Marion Friends Church. She moved to Powell Butte in 2005 to live with her daughter, Anita Dewey, and moved again in 2006 to live with her son, Jim Lauman.

She is survived by her children, Jeanne McCauley of Springfield, Anita Dewey of Powell Butte and Jimmie Lauman of Summerville; eight grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Cliff.
