Elizabeth Frazier Thompson

May 6, 1913 — January 26, 2006

Elizabeth "Lib" Eleanor Frazier Thompson, 92, of La Grande died January 26, 2006 at a local care center where she lived the last four years of her life. Mrs. Thompson was buried in Willamette National Cemetery beside her husband on February 10, 2006. Memorial services will be conducted at 10:45 am Monday at the Evergreen Health and Rehabilitation Center where she lived.

She was born May 6, 1913, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho to James Henry Frazier and Edna (Herren) Frazier. She was affectionately known as "Lib" by her friends and family. She was the middle of five children, including three sisters. The youngest was a boy who died at a young age. Her mother and sisters moved to the Olympia area where she graduated from high school in 1929. She entered the US Army during World War II and served as a clerk. While in the Army she met and married Jerald Thompson in Cowlitz County, Washington, February 3, 1940. She was honorably discharged from the Army in late 1945. Mrs. Thompson followed her mother into the education field, as did all of her sisters, and graduated from Central Washington College of Education August 16, 1946. The remainder of her work years were spent teaching children in small rural schools in Oregon and Washington.

Mrs. Thompson loved to travel. In her retirement years, she spent much of her time caring for her husband. Following his death she began to attend Summerville Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her sisters, Helen, Marjorie and Isabel. Memorials can be made to assist with funeral expenses.
