Elizabeth Anne Shaw, age 50, of Portland and formerly of La Grande died December 21, 2004. A memorial service and celebration of life will begin at 1:00 p.m. on January 11, 2005 at the First Presbyterian Church, 1308 Washington, La Grande.
Ms. Shaw was born on September 18, 1954 to Robert and Patricia Shaw in North Bend. She graduated from high school in Eugene and earned a scholarship to Whitman College which she forfeited to help out on her uncle's ranch in Montana. She graduated from Eastern Oregon College in 1978 and taught math and science in Cove until 1980, at Vale for a year and at La Grande Middle School until 1996 when she moved to Eugene. She retired this year due to ill health.
In 1978 she married Reed Stewart. She was a devoted mother to their three children. Ms. Shaw was an active outdoors woman and lover of nature. She enjoyed horseback riding, backpacking, hiking, waterskiing, music, singing, tennis, gardening, family history and a good card game.
Survivors include her parents of Portland; children, Larz, Laurel and Lana Stewart; siblings and their spouses, Stephanie and Jeff Sachtler of Portland, Scott and Susan Shaw of Nampa, Idaho and Dan and Jana Shaw of Seattle; and other relatives.
Donations may be made to her children's education fund in care of Dan S. Shaw, trustee, 1911 Mukilteo Blvd., Everett, Washington 98208.
