Elizabeth Jane Jarrard Bray

Elizabeth Jane Jarrard Bray, age 98, formerly of La Grande, died Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at a care facility in Hermiston. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 24, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hillcrest Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.

Mrs. Bray was born on October 3, 1908, the daughter of Frederick and Magnella (Synhorst) Reynolds in La Grande. After graduating from high school she married Eugene Jarrard in November of 1925. In the early years of their marriage they traveled with his logging jobs. During the war years her husband worked in the shipyards in Portland and she worked in various cafeterias in La Grande. He preceded her in death in April of 1953. She later married Lewis Bray and he, too, preceded her in death.

Her family was one of the first families to settle in the Grande Ronde Valley. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and the Women's Benefit Association. She enjoyed crocheting and gardening, and in her later years she enjoyed fishing with her husband.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Yvonne and Charlie Daly of Heppner; ten grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by son, Fred Jarrard, daughter-in-law, Patricia Chess Jarrard and four grandchildren.
