Eleanor I. "Go-Go" Campbell, age 79 years, 7 month and 10 days, of La Grande died March 21, 2006 at shortly before 3:00 a.m. at Grande Ronde Hospital as a result of a stroke. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 24, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. Committal and interment will follow at the Island City Cemetery.
Mrs. Campbell was born August 11, 1926, the second of five children born to Charles E. "Charlie" and Urania E. "Billie" (Hunter) Wilson in La Grande. She attended Greenwood Grade School and graduated from La Grande High School with the class of 1944. She attended EOC for a year and then Beauty College in Walla Walla, Washington. On May 10, 1948 she married Loren J. Hansen at Decatur, Illinois. During their marriage they lived in various places including Texas, Nevada, California, Oregon Washington and Idaho. On May 5, 1977 she married Glen Campbell in Weiser, Idaho and he preceded her in death on July 24, 1983.
Mrs. Campbell worked at the local theaters, Woolworth's and as a telephone operator. In her later years she also worked as a caregiver. She was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, the Eagles Auxiliary #259 and was a past member of the American Legion Auxiliary #259 and a bowling League. She liked to cook, garden, can and raise chickens. She enjoyed her family and playing cards and playing BINGO at the Grande Ronde Retirement Residence.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Judy Lynne and James L. Witherspoon of Elgin, Allan E. and Charolette Hansen of Elgin and James M. "Jamey" Hansen of Madras; sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn J. and Jerry Horn of Yakima, Washington and Betty Ann and Clifford "Ike" Snell of Dale, Oregon; brother and sister-in-law, Edwyn J. "Buddy" and Eleanor M. Wilson of La Grande; grandchildren, Jamie Nicastle, Dennis Witherspoon, Lynne Brown, Jim "Dabber" Witherspoon, Jennifer Loutzenhiser, Rachelle Wilson, Desiree Hansen, A.J. Hansen, Cody Hansen, Jan Hansen, Donny Phillips and Mikala Hansen; sixteen great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Earl E. Wilson.
