Edwin Meek

February 13, 1920 — April 15, 2006

A Memorial Service for Edwin Meek, age 86 of Myrtle Point, will be held on Friday, April 21, 2006 at 10:00am at the 1st Baptist Church of Canyonville, burial with Military Honors will be at 2:00PM at Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Edwin was born February 13, 1920 in Rye, Arkansas to Albert and Vira (McMahon) Meek. He died April 15, 2006 in Eugene.

He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served his country during WWII. After his discharge he moved to California. He was married to Ruth Ross in 1950. Edwin worked for Davy Tree Company for many years. He was transferred to La Grande, Oregon and continued to work for Davy for 30 years. In 1984 he and Ruth moved to Canyonville where he lived until 2002. In 2000 his wife died and shortly thereafter, he purchased a 5th wheel and began his travels. He reacquainted with Oletha "Lee" Johnston and they were married in September of 2002. While on their travels, they discovered Myrtle Point and purchased their home here in 2004. He enjoyed making stained glass windows, wood working, making hook rugs and gardening, especially his roses.

He is survived by his wife, Oletha "Lee" Meek of Myrtle Point; Step-children Harold Smith of Santa Cruz, CA; Mary Granacha of Martinez, CA; Michael Johnston of Chehalis, WA; Peggy Oberg of Big Lake, Alaska; Ann Johnston of Bakersfield, CA; Sister, Joan Rufner of Little Rock, Arkansas. 12 Step-Grandchildren and 6 step Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ruth Meek and brothers Verner and Ben Meek and a sister Maxi Lee Overton
