Edward D. Swartz of La Grande, died Friday August 25, 2023 at his home at the age of 66.
A celebration of Ed's life will begin on September 30, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Christian Church, 2630 Bearco Loop, La Grande. Casual Dress is requested and a potluck lunch will follow.
Edward Daniel was born on October 2, 1956, a son of Marvin and Dorothy
(Reineck) at Tonasket, Washington.
He was raised in Kingston, Idaho and
graduated from Kellogg High School. After joining the United States
Air Force, he was married to Sharon Baldwin in Coeur d' Alene on March
5, 1976. They were stationed in Phoenix, Arizona before returning to
Idaho and spending a brief period in Florida. They came to La Grande
from Idaho in 1990 and together Ed and Sharon started their business,
Swartz Ink in 1996, supplying businesses and individuals with supplies
for their computer printers and copiers until 2022 when the business was
closed. In 2019 Ed became the pastor of New Hope Christian Church
which he continued until his death.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Marvin and Mali Swartz of
Kennewick, Washington; a brother, Michael Swartz of Asheville, North
Carolina; his beloved wife of 47 years, Sharon Swartz and daughter
Harmony Collier(Clifford Magner), both of La Grande, daughter Carma
Trapp(Scott) of WaKeeney, Kansas, six grandchildren and other relatives.
Ed loved to fish, pick huckleberries and grow a big garden to bless his
friends and church family.
Besides his mother, Edward was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Mark
Collier.
