Earl Walden Winer

December 1, 1922 — January 12, 2007

Earl Walden Winer, age 84, of La Grande, died Friday, January 12, 2007 at a local care facility. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church in Island City. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. Winer was born on December 1, 1922, the son of Willy and Mary Anne (Jeter) Winer in Pleasant Hill, Oklahoma. During World War II he served with the United States Army. On February 2, 1946 he married Georgia Crawford in Wright City, Oklahoma. They lived in Oklahoma until 1952 when they moved to Lakeview, Oregon. In 1988 they moved to La Grande. Mr. Winer worked in the logging industry most of his life. He had a great love of the out of doors and enjoyed fishing, hunting and mushroom picking. In his younger years he enjoyed playing baseball and he had an extensive brass collection.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia of La Grande; children, Linda Miller of Ontario, Larry Winer of Mossy Rock, Washington, Virginia Wake of Locksberg, Arkansas, Dewayne Winer of La Grande, Annette Leckenby of La Grande and Penny Zarate of La Grande; seventeen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; three brothers, one sister and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
