Duane Duncan

Duane Duncan, 75, of Yoncalla and formerly of Pondosa, died April 29 of complications of progressive supranuclear palsy.

Duane was born May 9, 1933, to Virgil and Reta (Robinson) Duncan in Baker City. He married Nina Bronson Nov. 18. 1950, in La Grande.

Duncan attended Pondosa Grade School. He graduated from high school in Union in 1951.

He worked as a logger most of his life and sold Christmas trees in Tucson, Ariz.

He loved to fish and enjoyed camping. He was known for his barbecued chicken and was a handyman. Duncan was also a city councilman in Yoncalla.

Survivors include his wife, Nina Duncan of Yoncalla; sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Bonnie Duncan of Yoncalla, Rick and Betty Duncan of Yoncalla, and Boyd and Bonnie Duncan of Montpelier, Idaho, and Johnny and Loretta Duncan of Spokane; brother, Doran Duncan of Las Vegas; sister, Derece Argo of Florida; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Duncan was preceded in death by grandson Devin Duncan in 2008; sister, Ardyce Heuer, in 2004; and daughter-in-law, Vickie Duncan in 1985.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Devin Duncan Memorial Scholarship Fund.
