Dr. Bryce Dailey Moffit

December 16, 1932 — May 11, 2005

Dr. Bryce Dailey Moffit, 72, of Enterprise died May 11. A graveside service will begin at 1:30 p.m. May 17, 2005 at the Lostine Cemetery.

Dr. Moffit was born Dec. 16, 1932, to Floyd and Emmeretta Pugh Moffit in Wallowa. He graduated from Wallowa High School in 1950 and attended Eastern Oregon Normal School. On Feb. 13, 1954, he married Myrtle Hayes in Wallowa, and in 1956 graduated from the University of Oregon Dential School.

He was commissioned a first lieutenant in the Army Reserve and requested immediate active duty. He served at Fort Sam Houston in Texas, Fort Lewis in Washington and at Elmendorf Air Base in Alaska. On July 1, 1957, he was promoted to captain.

He opened a dental practice in Enterprise in 1958 and retired in 2001 after 43 years.

He served several terms on Enterprise City Council and one term as mayor. He was a member of the Elks and suported school sports. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and touring the country.

Survivors include his wife of Enterprise, a son, Charles, and other relatives. A brother, Bruce Moffit died earlier.
