Doyle Glenn Densley

September 24, 1927 — February 10, 2006

Doyle Glenn Densley, 78 of Baker City died Feb. 10 at St. Alphonsus Medical Center in Boise.

The funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Gray's West & Co. Pioneer Chapel, 1500 Dewey Ave., Baker City. Burial Will be at 1 p.m. at the Eagle Valley Cemetery in Richland.

Mr. Densley was born September 24, 1927 to Aaron and Edna Eidson Densley in Richland. He graduated from high school in Eagle Valley and helped his parents run a pack string and guide business into the Wallowa Mountains. He also worked with his grandfather, William Densley, on the family sheep and cattle ranches. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II and the Army during the Korean War. He worked in the timber industry and on June 1, 1948 he married Lillian Caroline Cummings in Baker City. He worked on the Brownlee Dam as a heavy-duty tireman and specialized all his career in maintaining large equipment tires. He worked on road and dam projects in Oregon, California and Washington, and on the Alaska pipeline until his retirement in 1988 He appreciated history. His unfinished book on the history of the Sparta area is called "Sparta Gold." He enjoyed trapping, gold mining, using a metal detector and wood working, especially making laminated bowls from exotic wood.

Survivors include his wife of Baker City; children, Aaron Densley and Carla Koplein, both of Baker City, Jody Munsey of Florence, Arizona and Julie Green and her husband, Doug of Lebanon, Ohio; a sister, Margaret Corning of Baker City; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; two sister-in-laws, Emma Jean Greener and Madonna Ashby, and other relatives, including a close friend, Jim Eidson of Baker City. A brother, Damon Ned Densley died earlier.
