Douglas Allen Lauricella, Sr.

November 23, 1933 — January 20, 2011

Douglas Allen Lauricella Sr., 77, of Elgin, died Jan. 20 at his residence. His graveside service will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at Elgin Cemetery.

Viewing for family and friends will run from 6:30 to 8 tonight and from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Loveland Funeral Chapel.

Doug was born Nov. 23, 1933, to Al Michael and Laura (McQuarie) Lauricella at Oakland, Calif. He lived in Martinez, Calif., and Summerville, before settling in Elgin.

He graduated from high school in Oakland where he competed in football, basketball, track and baseball. In 1952 he was in the All State Football Shrine Game while attending college at Santa Clara, Calif.

He and his wife, Joan Ellen (Page) Lauricella, who died last year, were married for 58 years. Doug worked for Shell Oil for 16 years in California, before he owned several businesses.

He owned Hillcrest Liquors in California for 12 years, Valley Upholstery for 31 years and Elgin Liquors. In 2010, he was awarded "Man of the Year" in Elgin. Doug was a member of the Lions Club and Good Sam's Club.

His favorite activities were coin collecting, camping and arts and crafts.

Surviving are his children and their spouses, Douglas and Marisela Lauricella of Portland, Kim Lauricella of Elgin, Bruce and Ladonna Lauricella of Elgin and Teri and Christopher Jones of Pendleton; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 11 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan, and his parents.
