Douglas Lee Bankston, 51, of Pendleton and formerly of La Grande, died Dec. 5.
Visitation will run from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Pendleton Pioneer Chapel, Folsom-Bishop. A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lighthouse Church in Pendleton.
Doug was born Jan. 23, 1957, in Oroville, Calif. He lived there and in Klamath Falls, where he attended school. After graduating from Las Plumas High School in 1975 he worked in a lumber mill near Red Bluff, Calif., and for a logging company in Chico, Calif. In 1988 Doug moved to Eastern Oregon where he was employed in millwork and construction in Pendleton, Baker City, La Grande and Hermiston.
Doug is survived by a son, Joshua David Bankston and Joshua's mother, Wendy Gayheart of Baker City; his mother, Barbara Lucille Bankston of Redding, Calif.; sisters, Joy Dean Lineberry of Texas, Marie Meyer of Redding, and Donna Alvaraz of Sacramento, Calif.; and brothers, Larry Bankston of Hermiston, Gary Hammons of Texas and Robert Hammons of Oroville. Doug was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Lee Bankston, and his brothers, David and Eugene.
