Dorothy Viola Wagoner, age 96, of Summerville, died in February at a local care facility. A celebration of life will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 7th Street, in La Grande. Private interment will be at the Summerville Cemetery.
Dorothy was born on June 4, 1915, the daughter of Clyde and Lula (Winn) Broxson in La Grande. The family lived in Lostine where she graduated from high school. She attended Beauty College in Portland and then worked in a salon in Enterprise until her marriage to Edwin H. Wagoner on September 16, 1936 in La Grande. They moved to Summerville in 1941. They were members of the Pleasant Grove Grange. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting, crafts and was known for her beautiful paper flowers she created. She liked to cook but loved to bake and enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens.
Survivors include her daughter and her husband, Rebecca and John Weygandt of Summerville; daughter-in-law, Virginia Wagoner; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Jimie Wagoner in 1989, husband, Edwin, in 1993 and her brother, Dean Broxson.
Those who wish may make contributions in her memory to the Ronald McDonald House or the Summerville Cemetery Chapel in care of Daniels~Knopp.
