Dorothy Belle Meyer Villines

Dorothy Belle Meyer Villines, 85, formerly of La Grande, died Dec. 20 surrounded by family.

A graveside service was held Dec. 23 at Canyon Hill Cemetery in Caldwell, Idaho.

She was born March 23, 1924, to Lloyd and Lula Meyer in Caldwell. She married the love of her life, Charles "Homer" Villines, on April 30, 1944. Together, they started a family in 1947 and eventually had four daughters.

Most of her life was spent in Caldwell. For 12 years, the family lived in La Grande. They also lived on various lookout towers and guard stations in the Payette National Forest. Those who knew her say she found a pioneer spirit she didn't know she had.

Dorothy is survived by her husband of 65 years, Charles "Homer" Villines; daughters, Naomi and her husband, Gary Putnam, of Council, Idaho, Nancy and her husband, Dewayne Vold, of Meridian, Idaho, Donna and her husband, Lyle Marshall, of

La Grande and Diane Villines of Caldwell; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two sisters; two brothers; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and two great-grandsons, Draek Parson and Massonn Reagan of La Grande.
