Dorothy Elsie Mattix

Dorothy Elsie Mattix, age 84, of La Grande, died Sunday, January 26, 2003 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Baker City.

A funeral service will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 1, 2003 at Daniels Chapel of the Valley with Merle Burling of Kingdom Hall officiating. Private interment will be held at the Island City Cemetery.

Mrs. Mattix was born on January 14, 1919, the daughter of Robert and Dovey (Rhymer) Pointer in Baker, Oregon. She graduated from Imbler High School with the class of 1938. In 1940 she married Ted Mattix in Weiser, Idaho. They made their home in La Grande and he preceded her in death in 1980. She enjoyed playing pinochle, fishing and crafts.

Survivors include her brother and his wife, Robert and Wanda Pointer; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A sister, Lela Transue preceded her in death.
