Dorothy Jean Hicks

Dorothy Jean Hicks, age 85, of La Grande and formerly of Union, died Saturday, October 12, 2002 at the Grande Ronde Hospital.


Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2002 at 3:00 p.m. at the Union Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.


Mrs. Hicks was born on March 17, 1917, the daughter of Pont and Anna (Shannon) Moulton in Weiser, Idaho. After high school she moved to Union where she worked as a waitress for many years. She later went to Business School in Baker and became a receptionist. She worked for several doctors including Dr. Kubler and Dr. Lumsden before her retirement. In 1964 she married Robert Hicks and they made their home in La Grande.


Mrs. Hicks was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was known for her amazingly positive attitude toward life and her sense of humor. Her optimism was astounding.


Survivors include her son, Lee Spray of Pasadena, California; five grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Her husband, Robert, preceded her in death as well as 12 brothers and sisters.
