Dorothy A. Busick

Dorothy A. Busick, age 99, of Union, died Wednesday, August 21, 2002 at a La Grande Care Facility.


A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. at the Union Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.


Miss Busick was born on July 26, 1903, the daughter of Arthur and Effie (Cusick) Busick at a ranch on Catherine Creek. She received her education in Union and went on to earn her teaching degree at Bellingham, Washington. She was a devoted teacher and taught 3rd Grade in Union for over 40 years. After her retirement in 1968 she traveled widely, including trips to Europe, Scandinavia, the Mediterranean, Australia and New Zealand.


Miss Busick was a member and Past Matron of Grande Ronde Valley Chapter Order of Eastern Star. She was an active gardener and an avid reader and had a continuing interest in Children and pets.


Survivors include her nephew, Robert Hermsen of Palo Alto, California; great nieces, Carol Forney, Jeanne Hermsen, Susan Brown and Kathleen Richman; five great great nieces; two great great nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by an infant sister, sisters, Eunice Busick and Alphia Hermsen and brother, Robert Busick.
