Doris Nitz Tolman-Thompson

October 14, 1932 — February 1, 2005

Doris Nita Tolman Thompson, age 72, of Sherwood and formerly of La Grande, died February 1, 2005 at a hospital in Tualatin. The funeral will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Palace of Praise United Pentecostal Church in Beaverton with Pastor Larry Bankston officiating and a service at River View Cemetery in Portland.

Mrs. Thompson was born October 14, 1932, to Howard and Celia L. "Bessie" Leatherman Kinney in Rosston, Oklahoma. The family moved to Caldwell, Idaho and to Ordway, Colorado, where she married Herbert Martin. In 1966 she married Oscar Tolman and lived in Vale and La Grande. In 2004 she moved to Sherwood. A third marriage was annulled.

She enjoyed collecting recipes, cooking for family and friends and being with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Sandra Martin of Milwaukie, Beverly Dimick of Hermiston, Gene Martin of Courtney, B.C., Canada, Melvin Martin of La Grande, Gary Martin of Portland, Greg Martin of Hermiston, Bob Tolman of Sherwood and Ron Tolman of Hermiston; 18 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Six sisters and five brothers died earlier.
