Doris Ross died at home in La Grande on November 18, 2006 at the age of 80. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.

Doris was born on September 7, 1926 in Pasco, Washington to William D. and Lucile C. Skeen Reinhardt. Her father died when she was fifteen years of age.
While in high school she was in a violin ensemble that won first place in the state of Washington. She graduated from Pasco High School in 1944 and married Donald C. Ross in 1945 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Walla Walla, Washington. They had two children from that union, Donna L. Ross and Daniel M. Ross. Her husband died in 1968.

She worked in banking most of her adult life. Although polio struck Doris at the age of 26 years, she overcame many obstacles and kept a positive attitude for the remainder of her life. She'll be remembered for her quick wit, kindness and love for her family, friends and the Grande Ronde Valley.

Doris was a lifetime member of the Episcopal Church. She was an active member of Soroptimist International and was very active in La Grande and Union County. She enjoyed her church, attending concerts, plays and the symphony. She also enjoyed reading, working puzzles, swimming and playing the violin. Doris also learned to utilize the internet and kept in touch with many out-of-town friends and family members via e-mail.

Doris was preceded in death by her mother, Lucille Parker, her father, her husband, and her brother, Dale M. Reinhardt. She is survived by her daughter, Donna L. Ross of La Grande; son, Daniel M. Ross and his wife, Crystal, of The Dalles; step-brother, Dale Parker of King Ferry, New York; sister-in-law, Toni Ross of Walla Walla, Washington; grandson and his wife, Sean and Tracie Ross; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
