Doris Muriel Hibberd

July 12, 1913 — February 12, 2006

Doris Muriel Hibberd, age 92, of Elgin, died Sunday, February 12, 2006 at her home. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Elgin Cemetery.

Mrs. Hibberd was born on July 21, 1913, the daughter of William Henry and Lura (Barnes) Miller on Cricket Flat near Elgin. She attended Elgin schools and graduated from Elgin High School with the class of 1931. On July 3, 1933 she married Kermit Myers in Elgin. They owned and operated the Corner Market Grocery Store for 41 years. In 1979 Kermit preceded her in death. In 1987 she married Reid Hibberd and he also preceded her in death.

She had a life-long friend, Lee Follett, who was born on the same day in 1913 and a debate lasted between them as to who was the elder, this lasted for 91 years. She was a life-time member of the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed traveling, bowling, her children and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Marlys and Robert Frink of Kennewick, Washington and Arlee and Melody Myers of La Grande; grandchildren and their spouses, Tari and Paul McBride, Cherice and Jae Ellig, Ryan and Frederique Myers and Wyatt Myers; great grandchildren, Kirk, Chandra, Ashley, Tiffany, Michael, Derek, Kendra and Oliver; great great grandchildren, Ivy, Shayla, Hunter, Andrew, Ethan, Madilyn Grace; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by sister, Ruth Hazelwood, brothers, Ralph Miller and Fred Miller and grandson, Michael Ray Burnett.
