Doris Gross

Doris Gross, 81 of Island City died March 6 at a local care center. Burial will be at Willamette national Cemetery in Portland.

Mrs. Gross was born May 7, 1923 in Richardson, Texas to James L. and Mary E. Sledge Maeson.

She was raised and educated in Richardson. After high school she went to work for a bank in Dallas.

In 1947 they moved to Battleground, Wash.

On Jan. 4, 1948 she married William G. Gross in Vancouver, Wash. They lived in various places and in 1960 moved to Telecaset. In 1986 they moved to Island City.

She enjoyed church, softball and Reading.

She is survived by her husband; sons, James "Jim" Gross of Island City and David Gross of College Place, Wash.; daughter Teresa J. Mastrude of La Grande; sister Elizabeth Walley of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Her parents, two sisters and one brother died earlier.
